Beautiful Black Scholar crowned as the 2025 500 Festival Queen

During the 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard, presented by Midwestern Engineers, the 500 Festival has announced Chelsea Murdock of Fishers, Indiana as the Festival Scholar Queen.

The rising sophomore at Ball State University, is making powerful strides toward her degree in Secondary English Education. With grace and determination, she leads her campus community as President of the Student Government Association, while also serving as Risk Prevention Chair for the Black Student Association. Her impact doesn’t stop there—Chelsea uplifts her peers as an Excellence in Leadership ambassador and a dedicated mentor across multiple colleges within the university. Whether in the classroom or in the community, she embodies the spirit of leadership, excellence, and purpose.

According to the 500 Festival website, “Each 500 Festival Princess received a $1,500 scholarship, made possible by Marlyne Sexton, an Indianapolis philanthropist and president of The Sexton Companies, and the 500 Festival Foundation. In addition, each 500 Festival Princess is gifted a custom pendant, courtesy of Khamis Fine Jewelers. “
