On Sunday, February 16th, the former Indianapolis Recorder owner, editor, publisher was presented the Julia Carson award on behalf of Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. This trailblazer was the Indianapolis Star’s first black editor and Indianapolis Recorder’s first female owner.
