Lighned Scrub Design, 365 Entrepreneur: Episode 133

Tell us about the time you got stuck in the snow?
It was early in the morning, and I was still working as a nurse. I was driving to the front of my subdivision when my car suddenly died. It was pitch dark, freezing cold, and I had no idea why it happened. Normally, I wear long johns and leggings under my clothes because I’m always cold, but that day I forgot—and I was freezing, even with my coat on. Thankfully, I wasn’t stranded for long and got rescued quickly. Still, that moment stuck with me, and it got me brainstorming about how to solve this problem for good.

What type of response have you received so far?
I launched on March 1, 2024, on my birthday, bringing Rasheed and Kirk to assist with the launch. Since then, I’ve received various responses on the fit, but overall, the feedback has been great. The Charlie Collection is my biggest seller because it’s versatile and can be worn year-round. This past August, I participated in Invest Fest, which was an amazing experience. I’m also proud to be a supplier for the city of Atlanta.

What is the hardest part about entrepreneurship?
The hardest part of entrepreneurship is dealing with loss. You don’t really get the time to grieve. There are no days off—being an entrepreneur is a 24/7, 365-days-a-year commitment, especially in my field. I often feel like I don’t get the chance to grieve the way I need to.
