Real Dads, Real Legacy: Raising $5.5 Million to Lift Up the Pillars of Our Community

True community restoration begins when we pour back into the men who anchor our households. Standing firmly on the frontlines of this mission, the Indianapolis-based Fathers and Families Center has officially launched its historic “Vision for the Future” campaign. This $5.5 million capital initiative will completely double the organization’s operational capacity to serve Central Indiana fathers.
This expansion is deeply important because the Fathers and Families Center primarily serves low-income, single Black and African American fathers residing in urban areas of Indianapolis. Many of these men brave systemic bottlenecks, unemployment, and systemic trauma daily. By offering structured resources, the center helps fathers tear down barriers to build a solid foundation of multi-generational wealth and emotional stability.
Tearing Down the Waitlist
The demand for these life-changing services is incredibly high. Currently, the center faces a massive roadblock, leaving up to 100 men per month stuck waiting for a spot to open. Fortunately, the campaign will completely eliminate this waitlist. Thanks to critical early supporters like the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation and United Way of Central Indiana, the initiative has already secured $3.9 million toward its ultimate goal.
A Massive Shift in Local Impact
By securing the necessary space and hiring extra staff, the Fathers and Families Center plans to increase its annual enrollment from 1,225 fathers to over 2,400 men. This beautiful surge in support will directly shield and uplift nearly 5,000 local children each year.
Holistic Support for True Elevation
The capital campaign directly enhances the center’s signature three-week, 90-hour “Strong Fathers” program. The classes dive deep into essential topics, including:
- Parenting strategies and effective communication skills.
- Dedicated emotional and trauma support.
- Immediate daily resources, including free meals through Second Helpings and reliable transportation via the IndyGo Foundation.
Furthermore, the work does not stop at graduation. The center walks alongside these men long-term by opening direct pathways to job placement, High School Equivalency (HSE) education, and the Healthy Couples program. Ultimately, this campaign ensures that urban Indianapolis dads have the blueprint to lead with love, power, and purpose.
