Indianapolis is officially counting down! Indy Design Week 2026 kicks off in just seven days, running from April 20–25. This 8th annual festival moves away from polished final products to focus on the “Field Guide” theme—pulling back the curtain on the messy, brilliant process behind the city’s best creative work.

Breaking Down the Process

Unlike traditional showcases, Indy Design Week 2026 highlights the sketches, drafts, and constraints that define the creative journey. Executive Director Tori Witter notes that this year is about sharing the “how” behind the “what,” creating a transparent space for designers across all disciplines.

Can’t-Miss Event Highlights

The week is packed with over 25 events citywide. Here are the heavy hitters:

• First Draft Showcase (April 21): An unfiltered look at early concepts and iterations.
• Sustainable by Design (April 22): An Earth Day deep dive into design responsibility.
• The Keynote Day (April 24): Hosted at The Athenaeum, featuring panels on the intersection of sport and design with voices from Adidas and the Indianapolis Colts.
• Design Market (April 25): A hands-on public finale at the Factory Arts District.
