Kelly Doucet Honored with Urban League Movement Young Professional Champion Award

Earlier this week, Kelly Doucet, President of The Exchange at the Indianapolis Urban League, was officially recognized as an Urban League Movement Young Professional Champion. The award was presented during the Legislative Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., marking a significant milestone for both Doucet and the Indianapolis community.

A Calling for Justice and Equity

For Doucet, this work is more than a career-it is a calling. While receiving the award was a moment of personal pride, she noted that the true highlight was the collective energy in the room. Being surrounded by young leaders in D.C. who are hungry for justice, equity, and real change serves as a powerful reminder that the movement is thriving.

Leadership and Mentorship in Indianapolis

Doucet credits much of her success to the ecosystem of support within the Indianapolis Urban League. She offered high praise for CEO Tony Mason, noting that his “day in and day out” commitment to the community serves as a constant inspiration.

“He doesn’t just talk about the work; he lives it,” Doucet shared, emphasizing that this level of authentic leadership pushes her to strive for the same impact.

The Power of “Iron Sharpens Iron”

The award also highlights the strength of the Young Professionals (YP) network. Doucet believes in the philosophy that iron sharpens iron, attributing her growth to the friends and family within the movement who constantly encourage one another to reach higher.

As President of The Exchange, Doucet continues to lead with a focus on purpose and a cause bigger than herself. Her recognition as a National Champion is a testament to the continuous efforts and tangible impact she brings to the Indianapolis Urban League.
