Momentum Indy is Set to Honor Historic Black American Cyclist

This summer, Momentum Indy proudly celebrates the legacy of Indianapolis icon and world champion cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor with the 3rd annual Honor Major Taylor Fondo presented by Zipp. Known as the “Fastest Man on Two Wheels,” Major Taylor broke color barriers and world records at the turn of the 20th century, becoming one of the first African American athletes to achieve international fame. Despite facing intense racism, Taylor’s talent, discipline, and determination earned him the 1899 world championship in track cycling—a feat that still inspires generations today.

Cyclists of all levels are invited to ride in his honor on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at University Park, with route options of 14, 30, or 62 miles through Indianapolis. The ride features chip-timing, mechanical support, rest stops, and stops at historic Major Taylor points of interest. All participants will receive a commemorative Honor Major Taylor t-shirt, enjoy a farm-to-table brunch/lunch catered by Rize, and celebrate post-ride at University Park, complete with complimentary bike parking.

Join the ride, celebrate Black cycling excellence, and pay tribute to one of Indianapolis’ greatest sports legends. Register now at: https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/Indianapolis/MajorTaylorFondo
