The spotlight is officially shining on the next generation of Hoosier creators! Online entries for the 2026 Indiana State Fair Indiana Arts competitions—featuring dedicated youth divisions—are open and currently accepting late registrations. Managed by Youth Arts Division Coordinator Mark Wright, this legendary statewide showcase offers young artists an incredible platform to share their creative voice, win cash premiums, and gain recognition from hundreds of thousands of fairgoers.

While the early registration window wrapped up on July 1, young artists can still secure a spot in the showcase by paying the late department fee. All submissions must be completed digitally through the Indiana State Fair Exhibitor’s Corner, as phone entries are not accepted.

Key Entry Details & Registration Fees

Before preparing your artwork for delivery, make sure to keep these essential dates and fee structures in mind:

• Final Registration Deadline: Late registrations are accepted online until August 6, 2026.
• Physical Artwork Drop-Off: Hand-deliver entries to the Indiana Arts Building on July 26 (noon to 8:00 p.m.) or July 27 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), right before judging begins.
• Registration & Entry Fees: The late department fee is $55 (which includes an unloading permit and 6 general admission tickets), plus a nominal $1.00 fee per youth class entered.
• 4-H Specific Entries: Submissions entered through county 4-H programs rather than the open youth showcase are monitored separately via FairEntry.

Category Rules, Framing, and Cash Prizes

The competition features age divisions determined by the 2024–2025 school year across categories like Oils & Acrylics, Pen & Pencil, Ceramics, Wood Art, Calligraphy, and Legos. Standard class winners earn 1st–3rd ribbons ($20-15-10 premiums), Best of Show Rosettes ($25), and a shot at the Youth Arts Overall Champion Rosette ($75). Special 2026 theme categories include A Celebration of Baseball and America’s 250th Birthday Theme.

To qualify for display, keep these specific exhibition guidelines in mind:

• Framing Requirements: All hanging pieces must be properly framed with a secure wire attached to wooden frames using screws (sawtooth hangers and adhesives are prohibited).
• Sizing Restrictions: Hanging work cannot exceed 48” H x 48” W including the frame, while Lego entries must fit within 18” W x 24” L x 18” H on a base attached to foam core board.
• Originality & Release: Entries must be 100% original work (no kits or copied photographs), limited to 3 entries per category. Displayed pieces must remain for the full run of the fair, August 7–23, 2026, with artwork pickup scheduled for August 24–25.
