Dystany Spurlock Makes History: From Drag Strips to NASCAR Glory

The racing world just witnessed a tectonic shift. On March 28, 2026, Dystany Spurlock (often searched by fans as “Dynasty”) officially etched her name into the history books. By taking the green flag at the ARCA Menards Series East season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway, Spurlock became the first Black woman to compete in a NASCAR-affiliated series.
Driving the No. 66 Chevrolet for MBM Motorsports, Spurlock didn’t just show up—she competed. After qualifying in an impressive 8th position, she navigated the high-intensity short track to secure a 7th-place finish in her debut.
The Need for Speed: A Pro Stock Powerhouse
Long before she ever climbed into a stock car, Spurlock was already a legend on two wheels. Her transition to four wheels comes on the heels of a dominant career in professional motorcycle drag racing:
- NHRA History: In 2025, she became only the second Black woman to compete professionally in the ultra-competitive NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class.
- World Record Holder: In 2024, she stunned the racing community in the XDA Real Street class, setting a world record with a blistering 7.32-second pass at 178 mph.
- Double Duty in 2026: Proving her stamina, Spurlock plans to juggle two worlds this year. Furthermore, she continues her sophomore NHRA season with Arana Racing while simultaneously climbing the NASCAR ladder.
Driven by Dystany: The Road Ahead
Spurlock’s ultimate destination is clear: the NASCAR Cup Series. The documentary project Driven by Dystany: The Road to NASCAR captures her journey and the grit of a dual-discipline athlete.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see her back in the cockpit. Following her historic top-10 finish at Hickory, Spurlock will take on the Rockingham ARCA Menards East 125 on April 4, 2026.
As she breaks barriers and speed records alike, Dystany Spurlock isn’t just racing for trophies—she’s racing for a legacy that will inspire the next generation of drivers in the Midwest and beyond.
